Tutored Tastings – Saturday 4th July

The festival is pleased to confirm that our very popular tutored tasting sessions are to return on Saturday 4th July.
Our tutoured beer tasting will see our trained beer expert along with a local brewer or two take you through the wonderful variety of beer available at the festival. At least five carefully chosen beers will be selected to represent the breadth and depth of flavours on offer. Learn about the ingredients which go into the beer, how the process affects the finished product and most importantly taste the beer. Your ticket includes entry to the festival for the rest of the Saturday session, a souvenir glass, festival programme and five beers to taste. The session will last between one and two hours.
If you prefer the joys of cider and perry, you can opt for our cider tasting session with our friendly cider experts. They will take you through the variety of flavours which result from different apple types from the driest to the very sweetest. Learn the difference between cider and perry, the production process which goes into a traditional cider and how blending or aging in oak casks can impart different flavours. Once you’ve done your training, help yourself to our full range to see if you can pick out the different flavours for yourself. Once again, your ticket includes entry to the festival for the rest of the Saturday session, a souvenir glass, festival programme, and plentiful samples during your one hour session.

Both sessions will take place at 12 noon on Saturday 4th July – an hour before the festival opens to the public. Tickets cost £15 each and will be available from 9am on Friday 29th May. There are only 25 places available at for each tasting so early booking is recommended.

Meet The Brewers – Thursday

For our Thursday session, you will have a good chance of enjoying a beer in the company of the brewer who made it.

A chance discussion with the team from Kent’s Pig & Porter brewery ended up with them agreeing to time their next collaboration brew trip to Manchester to co-incide with the festival. With one of the country’s most exciting new breweries travelling all that way, we thought why not invite lots more of our favourite brewers down for the evening. We are thrilled that so many of the brewers thought it was a good idea too.

Representatives from these breweries are expected with many more invited and likely to attend:

It’s going to be a pretty free form evening with brewers popping down when they’ve finished their day. Some brewers will have samples of beers not awailable at the festival for you to try and samples of ingredients to compare. Others will just be be around to answer your questions and just have a general chat.

They have all promised to do their best to stay awake after a days brewing and should be on their best behaviour (unless you feed them beer in which case who knows what could happen).
